SAHRMA’s Professional Development Meeting

JVG Solutions, Inc. sponsored a table at the San Antonio Human Resource Management Association (SAHRMA) monthly meeting last week. It was another great opportunity to show our products to many colleagues. The audience was a network of peers from several different industries at different levels of their career – all passionate about their jobs. I am using the MyHRTools Training and Development package to develop a series of topic-based web training modules, classroom training sessions lasting anywhere from 1 hour to half a day, and a series of IPodcast demonstrations. The MyHRTools training package has helped me to do the appropriate audience and goals analysis and to determine the appropriate media for delivering different aspects of the training content. The MyHRTools Flash interface is lovely, and each step of the process is entirely clear. I fully understand the rationale for each phase. There are not only templates but examples. I like the way that the Flash interface give me access to the template and examples at exactly the point I need them as I read through the development flow. Later, if I want to, I can just go directly to the folders and get access to the Word and Powerpoint documents without the need to click through the links in the interface. No doubt, someone in a new training role can find that developing well-rounded and precisely-targeted training is a daunting task. Investing in Training with a Small Budget

One of the top current Human Resources issues is retention and recruitment. Unemployment rates are high, yet it is difficult to “find and retain talent in economically depressed areas.” The best way to fill the needed positions with qualified labor is to invest in training, but your company may be included in the “economically depressed” area.

Our products were a perfect fit for the program’s topic “Building a Successful Talent Management Strategy.” This was a great opportunity to show our products to many colleagues as well as those new to AHRMA. The results were excellent. Our thanks go out to those who have now bought products and those who showed tremendous interest in the program comprehensiveness. We were not surprised to learn that many HR professionals are now taking on the responsibility for training development as well as other new, pivotal roles within their organization. Bottom line—many saw the program as a way to develop new skills for increasing their value to their companies—ways in which they can not only take on more responsibility but also maintain methods to let them better serve as consultants to their senior management.
