As the person responsible for the Human Resources function, you partner with managers (internal clients) and their direct reports. You help the organization be effective when it must respond to business needs and challenges. In doing so, you play a major role in shaping the direction of the organization and in helping it more effectively manage the human assets, which are the employees. You ensure that the organization complies with the laws, regulations, policies, and procedures critical to your industry.
Strategic planning is an organization’s process of setting direction and allocating its resources to reach it, including its capital and people. To determine where an organization is going, it needs to know exactly where it stands and then determine where it wants to go and how it will get there.
Operational planning, on the other hand, is the detailed, tactical planning that is associated with the day-to-day operations detailed over a twelve-month period. Topics in this module include the role of HR in organizations, the internal HR consulting process, strategic planning, operational planning, change management, succession planning, compensation, payroll, project plan management, and management reporting.
